A job app for windscreen fitters

The AutoGlazer fitter app replaces the paper job sheet. A fitter sees the day's jobs with the address, vehicle and glass spec, takes photos, gets the customer's signature and updates the office from the roadside. It is included in every AutoGlazer plan, with no per-download charge.

What does a fitter see?

  • Today's jobs in order, with addresses and routing
  • The job, the vehicle and the glass spec
  • The customer's note for the fitter, such as a gate PIN, high-vis or where to park
  • Who to ask for on site, when that is not the customer

What can a fitter record?

  • Status: each step from on the way to complete reaches the office as it happens.
  • Photos: before-and-after pictures saved against the job.
  • Sign-off: the customer signs on the phone.
  • Existing damage: chips, cracks and scratches marked on a car diagram, with photos and the customer's signature. Once signed, the marks can't be changed, which helps when a dispute comes up later.
  • Stock: deliveries booked in without going back to the depot.

Does it work with no signal?

Yes. The day's jobs are kept on the phone, so a fitter can read them in a car park with no signal. Work done offline is saved on the phone and sent when the signal returns, with the times it actually happened. It is worth asking any vendor to show you this with the phone in flight mode.

Which phones does it run on?

Android, through Google Play. The iPhone and iPad app is built but is not on the App Store yet.

The app locks behind a PIN, Face ID or fingerprint. A person is signed in on one phone or tablet at a time, so a lost or replaced phone can't stay signed in beside the new one.

Can the office see where fitters are?

The schedule shows whether each fitter is online and where they last reported. The optional Fitter Tracker adds a live map and a replay of the day at £5 per fitter per month. Location comes from the fitter's phone, only while they have location sharing turned on, and seeing it needs its own permission in the office.

Is it any use if I work alone?

Yes. On the Lite plan the app also has an Office tab with enquiries, quotes, the job book, invoices and customers, so one person can run the business from the phone. The rest of the system is covered in our guide to auto glazing software.
